Lesson Plan
Bellwork- Complete a review on macromolecules. Our plan here is to make a slip with fill in the blanks in order to review what we have already learned about and to get prepped up for the lesson as a recap.
Notes Segment- PowerPoint with note taking. We plan to make a PowerPoint going over the role of the FDA, and important acts that they passed, how it effects us now, how to read them, and then go over all the different components involved. It is going to cover an overview of food chemistry, the nutrition label, the history of food chemistry, macromolecules, and the FDA.
Visual Aid- Large poster on chemical/physical reactions in cooking, how the
beginning ingredients become the products and why that occurs.
Lab- We are going to make cookies and teach them how to read the food label. They must decipher it and determine how much of everything is included.
Check- Jeopardy game where the winning team get cookies.
